    I fail to see what's funny about a trade association that defines the standards for SD cards. A more complete quote from their website is

    "The Association does not manufacture, market or sell any product; it exists to create standards...."

    Members have the opportunity to participate in SD Association standards development activities such as committees and working groups that are designed to advance the way consumers save and use photos, music, documents, games, maps, movies and other innovative applications made easier by SD standards.

    I just can't get the words "vested interest" out of my mind ....


    Read " .... it exists to create standards ..." - perhaps to suit it's own needs, given the members of the board.. Hardly credibly impartial?

    I still don't follow. If you're going to set an industry-wide standard for the design of current and future SD cards wouldn't you want all the major player to agree?

    Or would you want them each to go their own (possibly incompatble) way? VHS and Betamax anyone?
