    Macrium Reflect

Using the newest version of Macrium Reflect. Since it's last update the blasted thing has stopped working totally. Re-installed it 4 times. I am about to reinstall it again while waiting to see if anyone here has had an issue or heard of any issue.

Need more info, please. Seems you are saying it was working ok prior to the last patch to .4952, and now is dead. This also implies you have the paid version. What exactly is happening when you try to start it? Error codes and/or pics would help.

No it is the free edition. Here is a screen shot of the error. For some reason it didn't attach last post.Macrium Reflect-error.jpg

Suggest you use the Macrium option to fix VSS errors, and try again. Under Other Tasks, Fix VSS Problems.

I have performed the VSS error fix to no avail. Installed without any security software running. Installed in safe mode as well which also did not work.

To ad also I did a manual uninstall also to insure no instance was left from the Win 10 uninstall process.

Surveying past threads that include the same error message your screenshot shows, "hresult=0x8004230f", the root cause could be corruption or conflict of the VSS system with poor uninstall of other backup/imaging programs or other backup/imaging program existing installs causing conflict.

In some cases the quickest solution was an in-place install repair of Windows 10.

You may want to search that error code within Tenforums or, if you simply want to give the repair install a shot, you can follow this tutorial: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

It was quite unfortunate (neglected to confirm I still knew where my MS Office 2016 key was, in the process of getting MS to believe I bought one) that I have already performed a repair install and followed everything on the Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade but nothing had worked. I am not about to do a clean install which is all I can come up with. I know windows 10 uses shadow copy also but it cannot be fully disabled with any hope of running Macruim.

My hope was to find another free source with certain functions without running two programs. Had considered buying Macrcruim but can't make that move without fixing this issue. The full trial version I had this same issue. Has anyone else had this issue and just couldn't fix it.

    Hi Chuck

I was having the same exact problem with Reflect as you... exact same error messages...

I did the Repair Install with in-place upgrade, however I did uninstall Reflect prior to the install... After the install I restarted the system and re-installed Reflect and all the problems were resolved... Have completed several backups without problems...

You might want to uninstall reflect and do the in-place upgrade again and see if it takes this time. Other than that it looks like a fresh install of windows is going to be your only option...

    Good Luck Chuck
