This is how I name mine. I have 3 systems and I put a name for each one 1st and store them in their own folder.

I have also updated the names and changed the storage folder after the image is done.

    Rename Macrium Image File?-macrium-name-new.jpg

Very custom. Very cool. Thanks to all.

So that -00-00 addition at the end of the file name.... does Macrium need that to keep track of incremental/differential backups, or is that user's choice also?

Yes. that's correct. Macrium adds -00-00 to the name you choose for the first Full image, then increments it for each subsequent Incremental or Differential.

And if you make another full backup it will add a 1 in front of the “-00-00”

No. Next full backup will be 00-00 with the unique ID or your manual ID. Linked incrementals will have 01-01, 02-02, etc. Too deep to explain here. Look at the v7.2 user guide, page 123 and after for a good explanation of backup sets. A lot of this the normal user will never encounter.

    What is a backup set?

I always untick the box to use the imgeID in the name and have always used a custom name describing what the backup contains. Never had a problem.
Yeah - everybody has done that, but this thread was based on changing the name after the backup had completed.

OPPS - pparks1 must of deleted his post while I was typing ??????

    Two questions actually:
Can you use a custom file name of your choice?: Yes
Can you change the file name afterwards?: With caution

Since I only do full backups and always from the boot stick I don't think the naming convention would be of great concern, but that's what I'm curious about.
