Trying to Clone SSD Drive to another SSD Drive

Perhaps this Acronis KB article is relevant?

Acronis software: NVMe drives in RAID mode are not detected by Linux-based bootable media and Acronis startup recovery manager

The KB article implies that you need to check whether RAID or not is set in the BIOS/UEFI instead of AHCI.

If it is relevant I'd suggest posting the fact in this thread so that the others can advise you
- I don't know anything about RAID & AHCI settings
- The solution offered by the KB article seems to mean you can avoid having to make any changes to your computer by making a different Acronis boot disk

But he only wants to clone the disk. That can easily be done in Windows using Acronis.

The "boot media" issue (which really isn't the main issue) may not be an issue as at all. In other words the OP is going about it all wrong where the main issue of cloning the disk is concerned.

The OP needs to open Acronis from within Windows and see if the disk they want to clone is showing. If it is, they can then proceed with the clone.

I think there is some confusion as to what the OP is actually trying to do... and convey to us.

I think the OP has clarified that he needs to know he can rely on the Acronis boot disk to recognise the problem drive if he is ever going to be able to boot from the USB then restore an image to that drive in the future.

- There is lots of support for Macrium Reflect [free] in this forum so you'll have a good chance of resolving any difficulties.
- Perhaps you could try out Macrium's boot disk to see if it can detect your problem drive and then make the decision to start using it for all your images.

UPDATE:

Well, a couple of weeks go by as the wheels of the country fall off before I try macrium Reflect (free) to clone the OEM SSD of my wife's new laptop.

Great success!

Longest part of the job was opening up the laptop and fitting everything back together.

Cloning process took just over 6 mins - super fast.

So, a paid-for cloning solution (Acronis True Image) fell at the first hurdle (couldn't find the OEM SSD) and the freebie (Macrium Reflect) carried out the process with no major issues.

Only *slight* issue was that the new SSD had to be initialized and formatted first. After that it was simple.

DEEP BREATH before committing to cloning (always worry that I have asked the program to clone the blank destination disk onto the source disk) and that was that.

I shall be using Macrium Reflect from now on.

Macrium is the best, I just used it to image W10 to a 960, worked flawlessly.

I don`t do cloning. And it certainly didn`t help the Emperor
