I have a computer that has just been updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I have Samsung 1TB 850 PRO as system drive. I also have a Samsung 1 TB 960 EVO SSD as a back up drive. Right now there is an Image for Windows image of my Windows 7 system on it. To put a Macrium clone on that drive do I need to format the drive first? I am using the free version of Macrium.
I think that space will be a problem. I would like to clear it out. My wife has a ton of programs and pictures. There is close to 400GB.

It is an Image For Windows image of the Windows 7system. I am sure we don't need anything off of it.The system was updated with a Windows 10 disk that I bought from Amazon.

I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I formatted my back up drive. Then i cloned my C drive to the backup drive. I'm not sure what happened. It looks like it changed the destination disk letter.
I never use the CLONE feature I always IMAGE the drive to the external. I can keep several images on the same drive. Same computer or different computer it does not matter as long as you Name each backup for each different computer.
Imaging lets you save linked full / incremental / differential images and may be automated using a schedule. Also when you recover your PC using an image file you will not have a Disk ID conflict which you may have with cloning. Such a conflict will result in two connected drives having he same DiskID which could prevent your PVC from booting. I have never found a reason to use cloning.

I have run a clone of my System disk and now when I go to this computer it shows a System Reserved (E) drive. If I click on it there is nothing there.What is it?
