My thoughts are that Acronis software is poorly engineered and supported. Use Macrium Reflect in preference.
I agree - My pc is hdd + optane memory. Macrium Reflect works perfectly - adding RST driver automatically. Even with Acronis Support, I can't get Acronis to work properly.

    Hi folks

Macrium even loads "Obscure" drivers if required

I have no problem restoring VM's created on QEMU/KVM using for the HDD drive the win-virtio paravirtualised HDD driver for the HDD's --- didn't have to do anything special -- just took a backup in the usual way from within Windows Virtual Machine and then tested a restore from the stand alone bootable media which I created . Macrium on restore automatically also loaded the paravirtualised drivers for Display adapter and network card -- using Virtio (dramatically improves VM performance !!)

(Note QEMU/KVM VM's allow direct booting from a USB device from within the VM -- you don't need to create an iso image and boot from that -- however this isn't about VM's -- just that Macrium is capable of all the tasks I've thrown at it without fail).

    Cheers

Actually support was reasonably prompt but not very helpful technically....they seemed to think I should have the answer rather than for them to to answer my question. It's still pending with no resolution after quite some time.

Macrium Reflect is the best out there. Acronis I used for about 4 days 9 years ago. It in my opinion is Garbage and as gar as I now they do not have a free version but MR does.

Not only is it garbage but the version I used did not uninstall effectively and left behind many remnants.

" Not only is it garbage but the version I used did not uninstall effectively and left behind many remnants. "................indeed!
After complete uninstall I could not use Windows Backup anymore , broken , I had to keep a few reg-files ( of Acronis ) , now all is ok again !
Will never use it again , only Macrium ( number 1!) , Aomei, Active Bootdisk...........

    Hi there
Years ago I tried it (Acronis) and it failed on RESTORE while BACKUP appeared to work -- so whatever package you use ALWAYS TEST RESTORE functionality --you don't want to find you've been taking apparently good backups for a while and then the first time you need a restore you get errors etc.

This was way before Macrium was even available -- so I went back to the old Norton Ghost for a while ---anybody out there old enough to remember that package -- which was for its day quite reasonable .

I was introduced to Macrium later (by member of these Forums --thanks people) and its been perfect ever since -- when there have been problems as I believe there was a big one around the time Windows version 1903 came out the MF team fixed it pretty quickly.

You can't IMO go wrong with Macrium --for I would suggest around 90% of typical users out there the Free version is more than sufficient (note no annoying "Go Pro or upgrade" nags either.

    Cheers

Same experiences as previous posters. Acronis failed to restore and left remnants that could not be removed. Macrium has never failed me.
