QNAP NAS invisible to Backup Centre

Would appreciate assistance with this matter...

The W10 (1909) Backup & Restore facility doesn't 'see' my connected QNAP NAS. The NAS doesn't show when I browse to look for a network location on which to backup. Worked fine under W7. And I can't remember the exact NAS file path (or whatever it' s called) so I can't enter that (as the Network Location) instead.

W10 knows the NAS exists because it shows up under 'Devices & Printers'.

Likely your SMB1 is disabled in Windows 10. That is default. Within this tutorial are instruction to enable. SMB1 is a risk, how much I will let you investigate.

Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10

Can you communicate with NAS using a browser?

If so enter and within Status I would think you would get address.

If using address I set my NAS to a static address to ensure it always gets same address. Or you could reserve address in router.

Are you using Backup and restore to image your device or as a data backup? If imaging I would find a good third party tool. Lots here using Macrium Reflect Free

    Thanks, Caledon Ken.

I used the NAS and, as you say, did a reverse address. Seems to work though I'm a novice at all this and don't fully understand the implications of choices I make until I see the outcome! Anyhow, it's worked - that's the main thing.
