Just a guess, South Bridge controls all of the computers I/O functions, such as USB, audio, serial, the system BIOS etc... so it might have something to do with it.
All the years working with PC, I've done a lot of updating/flashing the BIOS and never have any problem so nothing and can tell you, just follow exactly the instruction step by step then you'll be fine.
Hi @topgundcp , @SIW2. I’ve finally discovered the root of the problem and why it only happens on 2 of my 3 PC. All of my PCs are multi-boot but the 2 that have problems with are the ones with Linux boot entries. I use EasyBCD (MBR) to set up and maintain my Windows boot menu. It appears that whenever I make any changes to the Linux boot entry (as I’ve been doing over the last few days upgrading from HDDs to SSDs) and there is a Macrium bootable partition anywhere, EasyBCD writes the Linux boot files on the Macrium partition instead of the windows OS. Sounds crazy but that’s what has been happening. If I disconnect the drive with the Macrium partition then EasyBCD puts the Linux boot files where they belong, on “C”. I discovered this as I was browsing through the boot code and the path to the Macrium Rescue Partition caught my eye. Then I noticed the Linux boot files in the wrong place. Good grief what a painful learning experience this has been. Thanks again for your help, Bob.
