Restoring Backup to New Machine

Hi folks
Backup your system to HDD / SSD say with macrium
Restore to new machine

Will work 999 times out of 1000 -- Windows will probably mess around getting some new drivers but that's no prob.

All installed software should continue to run -- although some might ask for new activation key --e.g adobe software etc.
Ms will activate machine if there's any problem - just phone.

I've moved Windows systems so many times between all sorts of different hardware and rarely ever had a problem.

Macrium forum says it should work restoring to alternate machine. Then use ReDeploy to get Windows to boot. I'm with Jim, I booted Windows on an alternate machine and Windows has address drivers on its own without the need for redeploy.

That said it is one thing for someone who does it all the time as opposed to someone's first restore.

Still need to know what OP is using for backups, if rescue media was created and what is actually being backed up and how much documentation was provided.

Myself I would ask the hard questions about what is being backed up, how it covers the different failure types and then pay an expert should you need to invoke.

To add, I have Windows 10 Professional. It has been customized with many changes to setting and some softwares to run my business to take order entry, run accounting , work with touch screen etc etc.
Essentially I have spent a lot of time and money to get things going. I wanted to know what to do if other than harddisk something go bad and the computer is essentially not usable and I have to buy a new one and be ready in as short time as possible.

I've used sysprep in the past for putting my image on a new machine, but that's a very tedious process.
Now I would rely on Macrium's ability to put to do the same thing. I understand it will do that.
Not sure if it comes with the free version though. Perhaps that answers you question.

Windows 10 is a lot more robust when an image is restored to new hardware that the earlier versions ever were,

although I think I would consider a chargeable option that states it will work, more suitable than a free system that should work, this is much more important for business data
