    File History and USB 3.0

I bought a 256 gig 3.0 USB to use with File History. I had been using a 128 gig 2.0 USB and never had a problem. I changed the drive and removed all prior backup information/data so I would get a "first time backup" save. It seems that File History won't accept a 3.0 USB. I've tried several things and nothing seems to work. It simply won't backup to it. I can manually drag and drop folders to it and that works fine. Has anyone encountered the same problem or know where I can go to find out ways to make it work? Thanks...

I'm no expert on File History, but I'm 99.999.999.99 percent sure the issue isn't due it not accepting "3.0 USB". The fact that you can "manually drag and drop folders to it" says the drive is recognized by the PC. If this were a USB 3.0 drive issue, you would not be able to "drag and drop" to the drive.

Anyway see this tutorial - How to Select a File History Drive in Windows 10 and note Option two. In short you might need to tell File History to stop using the old drive and setup for the new (256gig) drive.
