    Thanks Thrashzone for replying.
I don't think the way I created the Rescue dvd will work for me.
It is not an ISO version. Meaning if I am staring at a blank
Windows screen I am dead in the water. The Rescue Media
in this case won't boot as I see it.

So my previous post is in error,
Most of your post went over my head.
Looks like Macrium Reflect won't work for me.
    Hi,
That is why you have to boot to the recovery media from the bios usually

Fast start is probably in the way too it always stops people from seeing the boot and bios flash screen to see which keyboard key to use for bios or boot menu.

Always get used to the worst case recovery method
You'd be surprised it is the only way to know.
Youtube video covers that towards the end I believe

I am lost here, why not simply go to MR - Other Tasks - Create Rescue Media - Macrium Rescue Media Builder. One lets the MR build the WinPE, once Status Is OK, one can choose to make bootable media on: Removable USB Flash Drive, CD/DVD Burner. And two other choices that are not needed by most end-users.

The Image Guardian feature could be quite important depending on the user. It is a feature that protects your back-ups from malware/ransomware infection. If a user keeps a back-up device attached to their computer and runs scheduled back-ups it is very possible to have a ransomware attack jump from the computer to the back-up during a scheduled task.

I paid for the license because I think that Macrium makes a great product and is worth supporting. I recently sent them an email offering to take the entire company to the pub next time I'm in London. I was putzing with partitions and Reflect got me back to where I needed to be quickly and accurately.

A little off the subject but in support of Macrium as I am a paid supporter, it is one of if not the best clone use that I have found. Not to say that other's might have found better. I have an MP600 Corsair gen4 NVMe and a samsung pyo EVO plus, both 2 TB. Amazingly cloned from the Samsung to the Corsair an entire 2 TB drive in 1.45 minutes. Have been tweaking around with changes to speed other things up in the GPU for my kids while testing on my system, and fortunately after repeatedly failing figured it out. The point is that the speed of transfer really impressed me. Going from the MP600 to the Samsung 860 EVO SSD 2 TB took just over 9 minutes.

Roland, you are not lost here. You're describing some of the fundamentals, which should be understood and done by all new users of Macrium, or any other similar Backup and Recovery software package.

Macrium is feature rich, as noted by @Dugly here:

    macrium Reflect

    and @Techymike here:

    macrium Reflect

Existing Tutorials, both here on Tenforums Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect
and many others across the Web are good, but can be daunting to a first time user. Even Macrium's own User Guide
    http://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v...df?src=sidebar is 422 pages long.

There are some good YouTube videos and videos from other sources, but they, too, can be hard to follow for a first time user, particularly if the material is outdated and not maintained.

What seems to be missing is a very basic Macrium Primer Tutorial. One that can walk the first time user thru the very basics of installation and must-do steps. A "Before you start" section right up front describing what the user needs and should expect. Let them know up front they may need an empty thumb drive or blank DVD. Let them know they should be familiar with how to boot their machine from any external media. Let them know that the best practice is to backup to an external drive. Help them be prepared. Then, slowly, step-by-step, at the users pace, begin.

Results will always be better when you are prepared and know where you are going before you start.

    Hi folks

This company really also STILL believes in decent Customer service -- those 2 words don't exist any more in a huge number of others.

A while ago there was a problem with Macrium backing up what was then that time a Fast Insider release of Windows --was it the ist 1803 -- don't know but the principle is the same. Macrium got their people in over a weekend and had a patch available within a very short time even though this wasn't at that time an "Official" Windows standard build.

Excellent company, Excellent Customer Service, Excellent product -- well worth supporting.

(Also if you use the FREE version --there's never any NAG reminders to "Go PRO" or whatever -- Well done Macrium. Just hope it doesn't get swallowed up by some of the more nastier competition or a Giant US Hedge fund).

    Cheers

Umm, I really don't have any problem with the software. Sorry if it sounds like I am new to it or need any assistance with it. I was just stating how nice it is after I was attempting to overclock my kids 1080 ti GPU and after a few failures, I was grateful that I had this program and paid for it. But what a beautiful blue screen I had in my attempts at overclocking......until figured out how to get the kids a few extra fraps!.The best part is that I know if I needed any assistance I am in the right place for any help if ever needed!

No, not at all, was using your post as a reference for how good Macrium is. And how reliable.

Teckymike, maybe stop overclocking? :) Long time ago, because of heat generation and BSODs, I very slightly "underclocked" a computer, can't remember desktop or laptop. No more BSODs.

Adjusted above because Jimbo thought I was earlier overclocking :)
