Macrium Reflect Free v7.2.453 Scheduling glitch?

I have MR scheduled to do a full backup on the 1st monthly at 08:00 hours and today it created the backup successfully. The log shows it timed at 08:00:04 but 1 hour later it created a 2nd successful full backup timed at 09:00:02. This second backup is not in the schedule so the only thing I can think of is that MR "forgot" the first backup (even though it is in the Log file) or that it "thought" I had only just switched my computer ON just before 09:00 hours and missed the scheduled 08:00 "Start time". I should say that the computer had been ON all the time from 07:40 until 09:45 (well after the second backup completed) and never entered sleep mode.

This is the first time it has happened. The computer clock time is set correctly.
Is this a known MR glitch? Maybe related to the latest version of W10?
My OS is Windows 10 v1909, build 18363.476.
Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

I've seen this before and MR stated it was due to the time change. They said it was a Windows Scheduler problem, I disagreed as it only happens with Macrium.

The way I resolved was to remove schedule from the backup definition and then ensured it was deleted from the Task scheduler.

I then restarted computer, edit the definition and added the schedule back.

Not saying this is your problem but it sure is close to the one I had. When did your clocks change for daylight savings, that is if your clocks changed.

Our clocks were put back 1 hour on Sunday 27th October. There has been two full successful backups created since then and each time only the one backup was created.

The next backup is scheduled for 15th December so I will see how that goes. I know I said in my original post that I backed-up on the 1st monthly but that was to keep things simple. MR is also scheduled to run full backups on the 15th monthly at 08:00 hours and this has never been a problem.

Thanks for the clarifications. As I said might not be the same issue. I wonder if one of there many updates in the last little while caused it.

Have you looked in the Task Scheduler? Is there one or two tasks?

There are two tasks in the task scheduler: - One is for the 1st monthly 08:00 backup and the second task is for the 15th monthly 08:00 backup.

    That is a good sign.

Looking more closely at Task Scheduler (TS) for the 15th November 08:00 backup: -
I see a discrepancy between what Win10 OS reports and what MR reports.

TS shows the "Last Run Time" as 09:28:02 and MR shows the time as 08:00:03 (and it took 17min 58secs including auto-verify so probably finished at 08:18 hours).

I know that the backup ran at 08:00 hours so it seems that TS is not reporting correctly. Maybe this is confusing MR?

As long as the glitch doesn't happen often then I can live with it and simply delete the extra backup. It just means that I can't shut down the computer while it is making the second (unwanted) backup. Other than that all I can do is what you suggested and re-create the xml schedule file. Maybe a future MR update will fix things.

With mine once it started it didn't stop.

Maybe another member will post here. Me, I would edit definition as I outlined above. Would be interesting to see what happens on 15th.

If it does the extra backup watch how the retention rules are handled. You don't want it deleting an old backup early.

OK. I'll wait until after the 15th and report back in case it helps anyone else.

    -----------

Caledon Ken - I decided to do what you said: - "Me, I would edit definition as I outlined above." so I deleted the old schedules and re-created them. I then updated MR to v7.2.4557.

The task status is now "Ready" and shows as "The task has not yet run".

I'll wait until after the 15th and report back.
