Any way to backup Microsoft Store apps and games?

Forza Horizon 4 took ages to download, and my connection is TERRIBLE (like 3 mb/s terrible) and our monthly data cap isn't very high as it is, so I'd either have to back this game up somehow, or just not redownload it again any time soon.

Anyway, is it possible to backup this game, or any other store apps, at all?

I used Macrium Reflect to back up the drive, after learning I can extract folders from it. Just need to figure out how to replace those folders into their proper place again.

You will need to deal with permissions issues to access C:\Program Files\WindowsApps then your choice would be to copy the complete folder for the particular app, or research ways of understanding its contents.

    dalchina,

    Sorry to butt in.

Are you saying that an App can be 'installed' simply by copying in its source folder just like a portable application? No installation process as such?

That would change my attitude towards 'Apps' significantly.

From what I understand there's still a process involved, and may require a Powershell command to "reinstall" the app/game.

No, the question is related to backing up- e.g. saved games I suppose.

Not sure if this is going to work, as I still had some errors in file access, but from what I can see, it's not allowing me to copy over all of the files necessary for the base game and expansion to work. I'll keep trying, but then again, I'll need to find the command(s) needed to "install" the game.

EDIT: Nope, didn't work. Macrium Reflect couldn't back up the folders individually, and it couldn't copy them over from the image, either. Something about encryption.

    I recommend you Appx-Backup. It's a PowerShell script.

Also it allows you to create the certificate for each appx which is essential to install it later on a different system or user account.
