    Question about making flashdrive bootable

If I make a flash drive a bootable one as a backup option to access an external hard drive that I've created a disk image to, and I want to use that flash drive for other things in the meantime while keeping the boot files on there, would it be safe to move all the Macrium boot files into a separate folder so they're out of the way? Or do I have to leave them right where they are in order to work as intended?

You have to leave them where they are.

Not really...I make a Macrium USB then do exactly what the OP wants, testing different utilities etc. I have a spare Macrium USB as well just in case though. But if the USB is bootable under a different method (so it boots without the WinPE that Macrium uses), it's easily possible. Just remember if you don't have the Macrium files in place on the USB and you need it your basically up the creek.
Its always best to have spare copies before tinkering.

@NavyLCDR is correct, the boot files have to stay where they are if you want the usb to remain bootable. The rest of the free space is yours to do with as you wish, though.

What else would you want to use the usb for any way? Unless you want to make it boot something else then it does no harm leaving the boot files where they are. Use separate folders for anything else you may want to use it for and you won't risk disturbing the Macrium boot files..

The flash drive I was going to use is my only spare one, and is 16GB, which provides plenty of room for other things. I use it when I go to a public computer to be on the internet and save different things to it. I guess I could do the reverse of what I was thinking of. Instead of putting the Macrium files into a folder, I could put everything else there.

Thing is, when things are added to the flash drive, they're arranged in alphabetical order which means the Macrium files become intermingled with everything else rather than remain separated. I wanted to just stick them together in their own folder to keep them safe and out of the way, but wouldn't want to cause them to become unusable by doing so.
