You know, I've been thinking, that changing the 1st post every update is kind of dumb.
I mean most installable software and even some portable software either updates itself, or tells the user to go fetch it.
I should be enough just to pst that maybe someone should open or go check, but no need to keep changing the 1st post.
First post only needs name, description, and a download link to developer really.
Yeah, you are probably right. In the end, perhaps it is time to unglue it as a sticky thread. It is more or less at end of its natural life for the free version now.

People will raise new posts anyway (free or paid) - we often get "Firefox is updated", "CCleaner is updated" blah, blah blah.

Got an interesting response from a Macrium Rep, Charlie Sinclair, on my question about the image format change and slower verify times. Seems there is a connection and it will be corrected soon.

I have noticed considerably slower Verify times in 8.1. I'm curious if the image file format changes might also cause this.

Reflect 8.1 has an updated image verify method that gives verify times equally as fast as Reflect 8.0 in most scenarios. However, you are correct, the same image file format changes can result in a slower image verify on some CPUs and disk drive combinations. We have now resolved this and the next update of Reflect 8.1 (due very shortly) will have image verify times as fast as 8.0 in all circumstances.
Thank you for highlighting this and thanks everyone here for your timings, feedback etc that have helped us improve the product.

There is a similar problem with Fast Delta Restore which they are working on.

What is interesting is that the backups still seem to be robust though. One thing I could not quite follow is they say they have changed the way data is stored in the image and yet previous versions of Reflect still restore them with no issue.

Yes, I saw that too and wondered but they were quite adamant that backwards compatibility was assured.

Thanks to all you Reflect beta testers above. I'll update in a while once these initial bugs are fixed.

Thankyou for relying on the rest of us, when you could have made an image backup and tried it, and if any issues revert. Oh wait a minute isn't that the point of image backups?

No problem with the Reflect 8.0 which I've used to recover two PCs recently after they were screwed up by Microsoft updates.

Wonder if I should update USB rescue too, it's still from latest 8.0 ?

8.1 now uses more than one cpu core for backups on my laptop. Seems long overdue.
