After my Macrium Reflect Home free trial period ended on 16th November it did not revert to the MR Free version. I tried clicking on buttons to use the Free version but they did not work so was forced to uninstall it and download and install the Free version and set it all up again.

Seems that Macrium don't want to make it too easy to switch from the Home version to the Free version even though they say that it will revert to the Free version after the trial has ended.

    Caveat emptor.
One of my students got a notice Wednesday that his 30 day trial was up and was asked to buy it or revert to the free version. No problem at all letting the paid version go and downgrading to the free version.

Keith, although I find it a very good idea, I know why you're doing it.... it's because you're addicted to new versions and you can't resist updating immediately after a new version appears!!!!
    Uh huh.

I also download/update MacriumRescue.iso every time, in case my USB, an older 4GB, goes belly up and have to recreate it.

I also alternate thumb drives. There has been at least one occasion when the rescue media had a serious bug, ok it was fixed in a couple of hours but even so.
Ditto, I have two USB's that I alternate.

    Question:

If you buy the license upgrade to V8 to replace your licensed version of v7 how long before the V7 licenses expire.

Also left message at Macrium asking them same question. At the moment they are offline.

Tricky one. I don't think it does but support for V7 will stop at some time.
@Caledon Ken You can view your licences here Macrium Portal you just need to enter your email address and a licence key and it will display all your licenses, whether they are still supported, and whether they are upgradable.

They had a serious problem yesterday with on- and offline states. It must be continuing today.

Sorry this isn't a question about support.

I have V7, it is licensed.

If I upgrade to V8 at some point the V7 license expires, (no longer accepted, purchased functionality dies)

Does this happen with the upgrade or do they give you a couple of weeks to convert systems.

Sorry if my first question didn't make sense.

If you remember, when v8 was first released there were some issues with sending the correct v8 keys for a v7 to v8 upgrade.
Just purchased Macrium Reflect 8 four pack but kinda only see 2 keys is this normal ?

I was one of those affected, meaning I got just two of my 4-pack upgrade licences and two incorrect keys. The purchase of the v8 upgrade immediately removed my v7 keys from the Macrium upgrade servers. The effect was that they could no longer be used to install v7, but it had no effect on any of my v7 Home installs that were already using these keys. There doesn't appear to be any mechanism to regularly check licence key validity, it only seems to check at the time you install a key.

Further evidence of that is that when I was testing the procedure to clone my old laptop to a new one and upgrade it to W11 I forgot that it had a licensed v8 Home on it. I ended up with two fully licensed installs of v8 Home, one on a W10 machine the other on a W11 one, both using the same installed key. They ran like that for two months with neither install complaining about licensing.

When I repeated the clone for the release of W11 I made sure I first removed the key and cloned it with v8 Free instead.
