    Got the pop-up, clicked Update, nothing happened for about 60 secs, then the usual update specs-download button panel appeared, but when I clicked download, I got a spinner and finally had to use Task Man to end the "live" update task. Opened the program window to try again, and got the same delay, and another spinner.

    I'm not posting this because I'm concerned about it. I just want anyone else who experiences this to know that it's not your machine; it's the update program having a hiccup.

    Dan

    [update a few mins later]

    As promised, the v8.0.6392 patch fixes the 30 day Trail not being able to revert to Free at the end of the trial. Tested installing v8.0.6353 in a VM again, then patching it before changing the date to make it expire. Reverting to Free now works as it should.

    @Pacman23 an d @f14tomcat

    TC and Pacman,

    Do you make new rescue thumbs every time there's an update?

    (Only asking because I've used v7 rescue thumbs for v8 restore (by accident, not on purpose) and they worked perfectly. All these rescue thumbs do is boot and get into the on-disk MR application. From there on, the "boot" folder does the work. Right?)

    Re my 'Caveat emptor' remark? It was meant to be a 'tongue-in-cheek' humorous remark relating to the trouble the failure to revert to the 'Free' version caused me.

    I am fully aware of what it means but thanks for highlighting it for those people who do not know what it means.

    No, the rescue thumbs have their own WinRE or WinPE environment and MR copy. They don't use the host windows at all. You can boot them when there is no Windows installation at all.
