I used to do that until I tried a Macrium rescue CD more than a year old and found that it still worked perfectly to restore a current image. If one ever fails, I can always go to another computer and burn a new disk.
Good pointer. I will remember that...Just for kicks, let me say If it happens that I need the rescue media on my USB stick, that means something bad has happened to my computer. I really rarely use it considering that there is the Boot menu and also I can directly restore from my backups.

Strange , did someone noticed the difference in bytes on the latest boot-media ; my previous ( 7.3.5758 ) is 287MB , latest ( 7.3.5854 ) is only 266MB ............seems a big difference to me , anyway tested ; boottime about 3 minutes (CD) and making backup of the complete OS in about 4 minutes ........will keep previous also , just in case.............

I consider v7 as stable as v6, been testing restores and backups with it.

So will do offline upgrade of the last 2 keys. and my new plan is to have 2 v8 and 2 v7 instead of 2 v8 and 2 v6.

Hmm not sure its possible, have asked Macrium on their forums. Want to do this before v8 is released, in case otherwise those 2 unused keys would not be eligible as they are not yet full v7 keys.

Well, based on tried and true rumo(u)r, you have a bout 1 week. Mid-May is what all the people (1 or 2) are saying is the honest gospel truth of release for V8. Or not. Maybe.

So, version 7.3.5854 should be the last update of the 7-version.............?

Not necessarily, V7 will still be used and active for a while, I didn't see a single word about dropping V7 support.

Not at all, updates may well still be issued. The latest update for v6 was two years ago......

What MR told me was that once you purchase MR it is yours and you can use v7 for as long as you please. They also said that once your license expires after 12 months so does the free tech support on the Product. I would think that the same will apply for v8 once it is released.

So do I, though from what I've seen of v8 it's not so different from v7 that you'd be unhappy to use it.

Looking back through the v6 updates since v7 was released, I'd expect the v7 updates to continue, but maybe at a lower frequency. All the recent v6 fixes were made to cope with problems caused by changes in W10.
