Well it appears the release notes for 5550 are a little incomplete. Mentions desktop power fix but the release includes the changes to detect power state on laptops correctly.

Now I wonder what opportunity I can chase next. I do have one client that gets a catastrophic error on VSS writers caused by an SQL writer.

I just updated Macrium on my laptop and it updated to 5555 where as my desktop is at 5550
But there is no need for English system users to go to 5555 if already updated to 5550, nor is there a path other than a repair install with the newest installer.

    19th January 2021
    Bug fixes and Improvements v7.3.5555 - 19th January 2021

    • Macrium Task Scheduler - Unsupported Operation
The German language version of Macrium Reflect v7.3.5550 reports the error "Attempted an unsupported operation" when taking the Defaults > Scheduler menu option
    • .Note: This release will not patch English versions of Macrium Reflect from v7.3.5550. English language versions at v7.3.5550 are unaffected by this release.

      • English language versions will not patch from v7.3.5550 to v7.3.5555. This isn't required.
      • All Full installer downloads will be v7.3.5555
      • All German language installs will patch to v7.3.5555.

Macrium has updated the release notes for 5550. Use to say desktops, now says systems. I had asked as my issue was with a laptop.

Was that just a quirk of terminology? I would think so. In a corporate environment, the slang would likely be Desktop, home users would likely be Laptop. Go neutral and call them systems.

    Hi folks
Just a query here -- any news of V8 or are we still essentially in "Vaporware State". Macrium IMO is a reasonably good, reliable company but in the current COVID state I'm assuming a lot of companies -- especially smaller ones may well have postponed or put on hold projects of this type.

I do know some people were doing "User trials" but it seems to have gone very quiet on that score.

    Cheers

For V8 news, subscribe to this thread, its most recent news is....

From their newsletter today, probably old news but.....

    50 % discount on valentine

    Maybe someone can clarify:
will it be cheaper to upgrade from macrium 7 to 8 or
buy now an additional licence with 50 % discount and have a free upgrade to version 8?

    Regards,
    Uwe

The Valentine Day discount is only 20%.

It will probably be cheaper to upgrade an existing licence but we cannot be certain as terms have yet to be published.

However past experience is that you get a 50% discount if 1 major release behind, but none if 2 major releases i.e. if on V7, you will PROBABLY get 50%. If on V6, no discount.
