MR would have to keep a library of every possible RE for every version of Windows. The RE in your OS is built for your installation, that's why it uses that, if available. Otherwise you DL the appropriate PE you need/want.

Can't imagine making a full backup (with verify) or restoring 250+GB's of data over a wireless connection. Maybe if it was AC wireless and you were sitting next to router. That being said if you buy one of those ultra thin laptops with no wired NIC you don't have much choice. (yes you could buy usb adapter)
