    Thanks Wynona, that helps.
Maybe now if kitpzyxmsir switches back to PE from RE it will work?
No, no, no, he might get the same reaction @Fabler2 did! We don't want that! Looks like it may be either/or!

    kitpzyxmsir - "Zero fail"

"Zero fail" is a simple, common way of enphasis. It is not literal, do not read thus.
About you have written,, thank you. I had misunderstood something.

    Hi Winona,

Right you are. Thank you. Soon as I switched to Win RE, everything went back to normal.

Maybe someone could explain my confusion as to why the Win RE is not the default option.

    Hello HumbertoH

With all due respect, I must disagree for several reasons.

First, there is no perfection. There is no such thing as Zero fail. And I get this product for free. Under those circumstances, I can hardly complain. If I don't like it, I can go elsewhere.

Second, I never said 2 fails. I said bumps in the road. One of these alleged bumps was this one about Wim RE, which was easily and thoroughly explained by Winona. The other was an issue with a Macrium update that was soon dealt with. One of the many great things about Macrium is it's reliability, but if there is a "bump in the road", just revert back to a previous version that was working for you. Problem solved.

I don't want to disparage Acronis. I stopped using it years ago because I couldn't rely on it for various reasons. It needed further refinement and development. I have no reason to doubt it's improvement since then, but I can't speak for it currently.

Since then I've tried the leading competitors in this category, and I settled on Macrium, hands down, and never looked back. If you take the time to learn how to use it (it's not complicated), it couldn't be simpler, faster or more competent, IMHO.

Sorry, I do not know how to reply if to you or other person. I will repeat what my short post says and else 2 or 3 words.
"Zero fail" is a simple, common way of enphasis. It is not literal, do not read thus, due respect. Perfection does not exist, "Zero fail" is just a kind of very reliable option of software.
    Thank you.

    Not to worry, Humberto.

BTW, I and a lot of us "elders" in TenForums use dark backgrounds because of our "elder" eyes. Your bright blue font is almost totally unreadable for us. I had to highlight the post to be able to read it.

    Just saying, not criticizing.

I use PE, Macrium supports this and updates accordingly.

Most of my backups are done to NAS and I too had read that better network support.

Like everything else, we have choices. Use the one that works.

    Thanks, Ken.

I decided to look up PE vs RE and as you can see, we had a great discussion. I've learned quite a bit, as I'm sure others have too. We can all now make an intelligent decision.

I am surprised. I had thought it would be better colours, like blue, etc - and why Tenforums administrators put the option of many many colours?? I read much better in blue, some exception is another way of call attention, mark, enphasis. Thank you very very much. I sometimes write posts in other forums, and you is sthe first to make this advice - good advice - I supp´-ose it is people who read many many on the screen, the habit, the usual. I will write in black, bbut praying... someday everyone like and read colloured phrases.
You can criticize me, probably it is a way of helping.
Brazilian hate criticisms, in general (and I hate this brazilian aspect of our culture) but I am not a tipycal brazilian. I like gerrman way because their rude sincerity. (I am not rude, I suppose, I am too humourous). Be quiet.
Ah, brazilian never shows the true feelings to foreigns, always are happiest, and marketing...if someday you visit Brazil.
    Congratullation.

To sum it up, let's see if I'm doing it right.
Two pretty different computers, a newer one (Ryzen) with UEFI and older one (AMD FX 6340) with legacy BIOS and want to keep only one Rescue USB for both.
So, I make rescue disk with PE and update it on Ryzen system every time there's new MR version out. MR is installed on both of them, regularly updated and boot menu with RE made and updated. Both are connected by wire to same router so no WiFi required.
