No practical difference except the WIN11 PE version has slightly nicer looking graphical elements, icons, etc.
Unless you want to perform a backup or restore over WiFi. Only RE supports WiFi.

Also bear on mind WinRe mode uses the WinRe.wim file in the recovery partitions.

WinPE requires approx 1GB of additional files to be downloaded.

TBH WinPE is really a legacy mode now.

    I always use WinRe now.

Some people can fall foul of a long standing issue whereby Reflect will only boot in low resolution which makes it harder to do backups as the finish button is off screen, and you have to move window to see it.

On such devices, you could often get full resolution usin WinPE 5.

After all these years, the Reflect Team have never really got to the bottom of this and blame Windows saying there is nothing they can do as bug was introduced with WinPE 10 adks.

I get that on my system if I disable CSM and run UEFI with GPT disks. I get it during the Windows install up until the point I install GPU drivers (which is a huge PITA to even get to at 800x600), every time I change my drivers, and in Macrium's rescue/boot disk. I have found no work around, BIOS/UEFI toggle, or fix other than to stick with legacy BIOS/MBR. That was why I was experimenting with the PE Macrium builds to begin with.

I'd conclude it's not Macrium so much as it is Microsoft...Windows and by extension Windows RE/PE that has that problem.

TLDR: UEFI/GPT SUCKS!...or ~15 years on and hardware manufacturers/Windows have still not managed to figure it out/support it properly yet.

Regarding the issue I posted a week or so ago.

If your RE environment created rescue media that successfully booted you are not impacted by issue.

It appears to be a small subset of users that are impacted. There is some suggestions in the Macrium forum thread that the issue was caused by Preview updates. I have no proof of this but the individual I was working with had applied the preview updates. Both machines failed to make good media with RE base wim.

The individual who had the support license followed up with Macrium. They are stating it is not Macrium that is at fault. Rather a Windows update corrupted some RE environments. They did not say which update.

When Macrium uses the corrupted RE environments the rescue media fails to boot and you get the blue screen in thread. Macrium says MS is aware of issue but Macrium has no knowledge of what the fix will be or when it will happen.

If the rescue media fails to boot with the RE wim as the base, Macrium has recommended using PE. That is what we did on both machines that we were having issue with and both booted successfully.

Thanks Bree. I noticed it's a month old. Just curious why the delayed update?

As and when (or if) you get an update notification very much depends on what you have chosen in Reflect's default settings.
