Can Macrium restore an image from a 400GB drive to a larger 1TB drive? I need the destination to have 400 gigs of data and 600 gigs of free space. I must have did it wrong because I end up with 600GB of unallocated space.
The unallocated space is free. It just needs you to create a partition in it. You can do it in disk management. Just right click the unallocated space and from the context menu select "Create New Simple Volume".

If you want it to be one partition you can also use disk management to extend the existing partition. Macrium could have done that for you because there is an option to resize the partition. There is info on how to do that here Restoring an image from Windows - Knowledgebase 8.0 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase

So this will make the Gaming partition extend to all 4 TB?

    Just looks confusing!

Befuddled.. Is there no truly FREE version anymore?

Gang I'm a longtime user of Macrium and a bit of a salesman for them - unofficially of course. I just think it is a really solid product for small biz and home users. But....

Today I was going to put it on a system belonging to a small biz, as I've done before, and setup a schedule and make "at least one good image" of the system including both of two physical disks. Anyway, I could not find an install file of Version 8 that is "free" - rather, they are all "Trial" with annoying popups about expiration, UNLESS I'm missing something. In the past, as you all know, they were serious about a Free version. Did that change? Maybe I'm the dead last person to hear of it so pls be patient -

Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition
I tried both Commercial and Personal - the installer was identical. I gave them my email, they sent me a key, but on one attempt, the Key was rejected as Invalid. Tried a different install, and the field was already populated, rejecting any attempt to change it. For this purpose, I am not concerned with whether it is the Personal or Commercial, I'm just needing to avoid the confusion of a warning popping up "you only have 26.66 days left.."

    thanks for help

The 30 day Trial version will not expire at the end of the trial. Rather it will prompt you to purchase, and if you decline it will revert to the Free version and continue to run - just without the Premium features. It will however be able to restore any backups made using Premium features.

The Free installer won't let you change the installed key because it is already pre-populated with the Free key. The only differences between the personal use and commercial version of Reflect Free is the licence agreement, and that only the personal version allows you to skip registering with an email address. For a small business the Commercial Free version would be appropriate.

I just used Macrium for the first time ever to clone a WD Black 500GB to a Intel 240GB SSD. The process took right at 1.5 hr start to finish. When completed shut down computer removed WD Black, moved Intel SSD to that port, re-started computer and it started right up on the SSD and has been running fine for a little over an hour. It does not get any simpler than this, very impressed.
