I've been running version 8 Pro since it was available to me to upgrade on both my machines. They run just fine for me no issues what so ever.
Only issues are with reverting from test to regular "free V8", Regular payed version works fine with no hitch and so it did as Test version.

I've been using V8 free for several months now. No issues making backups or restoring them.

The issue is about getting updates not whether it works.

Some people install V8 Free from non Macrium Reflect sites, and and found they do not get updates even though they mostly work ok. Of course, if you fall foul of a bug fixed in a later version, you are goosed. I cannot say this is true for all users.

However, if you use the official trial version of Home, after 30 days it reverts officially to V8 free if you do not buy a licence and DOES get updates (well certainly does on my spare devices - I cannot guarantee it for all users but that is how it is supposed to work).

Note: initial web release said trial would revert to V7 Free after 30 days but on Reflect Forum, it was confirmed that it would revert to V8 Free and that is exactly what I have experienced).

You can actually bypass the 30 day wait by removing the trial licence and entering the generic free licence. I think it was @Bree or @Brink (sorry guys grey matter means I cannot remember who) who described how to do this on a post somewhere).

Thanks for the clarification. What version is your V8.x Free at now? I have v8.0.6161 which seems to be the latest according to OP.

I'll give the V8 Trial & revert to free version a test and see how it goes on.

Like Hemimax I will give the 'Home Trial' version a go and hope it reverts to 'Free' without a hitch after one month. Watch this space after 16th November.
@cereberus - I took your advice and uninstalled the version I got from 3rd party website and installed the official 'Home Trial' software from Macrium.

Well, I don't know about Brink, but I posted about that back in July....

I installed the 30-day Trial, then changed the Licence key to the v8 Free key. I found the v8 Free key by removing the licence from my v8 Home which reverted it to v8 Free, took a note of the key, then restored its licence.
