I will hold back from updating to version 8 free via MajorGeeks on other machines as it tries to 'update' to version 7

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is experiencing that. Since I already installed v8, I'm going to leave it in place as I'm feeling confident Macrium will resolve this issue within days.

At the risk of @FroggyTheGremli's dissaproval, I have been running that leaked v8 Beta of Free in a VM - only really so that I could keep an eye on the release notes for each update.

That is exactly the behaviour of the Beta version now that Beta testing has ended, complete with that blank 'update note'. The 'update' reverts v8 Beta to v7.

I just updated one of my computers to V8 using one of my four free licenses. So far it looks good to me.
I will upgrade my other computers later today.

Don't have to be old, there are many people with less than 20/20 sight since they were babies. My eyesight actually improved with age, I wore glasses since I was 17, needed them for driving and long distance but since few years ago I don't, not even reading glasses for news papers and books, only for very small things.
There is a post on the Reflect Forum saying they plan to provide a user adjustable font size in the next release:

I am under the impression that this upgrade was not completely baked. As MR said it themselves there are some little bugs that need to be fixed, like the different themes are not playing nice on my machine (I had to stay on "Light"), all my backup definitions disappear and I had to recreate them, not to mention some of the new addenda that I have to try to understand... Pretty sure that a new update for this version is not too far away. Just my feeling!
Total retraction from what I said above with regard to "Backup definitions" and the different "Themes". My Backup definitions were always there; it is just that I didn't see them. The bar indicated by two red arrows in my screenshot below was all the way up and kinda hid the Definition Files; all I had to do is to pull the bar down.

I think the issue had to do with some minor incompatibility with a third-party app on my machine. Everything seems to be working fine now. Same thing goes for the different "Themes". A good dose of reading is awaiting for me in the knowledge base of the new version of MR V.8.0.5903 because so many things have changed or modified.

Anyone noticed Macrium still using ( the very old) PE 1607 in the resque-media ??
Is the PE 1709 not much newer ( and better !)............. ?
Macrium downloads the PE from the Macrium-site , during the production of the resque-iso ........
imo ; its a much too old version anyhow !

If you use RE instead you get 2004 which is the latest.
