Discount is 50 % in Germany until 21.2.

I was caught in this dilemma wondering whether I should buy now or wait until the official MR V8 is out. According to your explanation, I will opt for the latter since that gives me a discount of 50%. Right now, I am on latest V7 paid version.

Sure, but this is an assumption not a confirmed fact.

In the end, even if true, you pay 50% to upgrade and have one V8 licence only, or you could buy a new v7 licence at 80% which will get upgraded for free, but you then have two licences (1 v7, 1 v8). So in effect, you get a free licence for only an extra 30% of cost of upgrading. It all depends what your needs are.

I see your reasoning, but why would I be using V7 when I have V8 (when it comes out in the near future). BTW, I have two paid versions of MR, one for each of my computers (See Specs) and who Knows, since I will be buying two licenses for V8, maybe the guys at MR would agreeably give me a good discount.

MR is owned by you, you can use the same version forever. I was told this in an email from Macrium. My current release with my current license is good till 4.21.2021. I will upgrade to v 8 at that time or when it is officially released.

That is exactly my intention. The old versions (V7) which I won't be using anymore would be given to relatives or friends, by the transmission of the license keys if allowed. I really don't know if one can do that...I will have to investigate or directly ask MR support.
