So it does see your usb Thumb drives when you boot Macrium but both devices can't see HDD when boot in Macrium.

So what make model is HDD, are you using a external caddy or is this a enclosed self contained unit?

What file system is the HDD using NTFS, exFat?

It's a 250GB Hitachi HDD, NTFS file system, I am connecting it with a USB to SATA cable.
First two pictures are when connected to USB2.0 port and the next two pictures are when connected to USB 3.0 port.

From your recent post it is not a Macrium problem since Windows does not see the drive on a USB 3 port.

What is make and model of the USB to Sata cable?

Thanks Jim, but the port working fine when I insert Macrium recovery USB disk, the cable has no name on it and I forgot the name as well, it was bought a while ago.

Just throwing out..... may be since it's a spinner there is not enough power. Thumbs would work fine, but HDDs require a lot more.

So the port works, when USB key is inserted, but the cable does not work even when you try to access data in Windows.

If you connect HDD with cable to USB 3.0 port Windows can't access the info.

Yes the info happens to be macrium files on the HDD but Windows can't read the drive, according to your pictures.

    It can read on USB2.0

This cable is not compatible with USB3 ports.

So brummy should be able to hear drive spin up.

It should be noted he said this happens on two different computers and only fails on USB3. Agree it could be power but two different devices. Still possible.

So brummy do you hear drive spin up?

Thanks for indicating you’ll keep us posted. Just to clarify, you can backup to and read from this drive when using USB2? Using Macrium?
