    Hi folks

just can't get the latest release to create a bootable USB device on AMD machine with OPTERON X4321 processor -- Intel computers no problem

On AMD I just get Windows error on boot -- and error code is just 0x0 and a whole string of HEX zeros

I created bootable USB device for both UEFI and MBR boot

so test results : boot UEFI with CSM ----FAIL
    boot UEFI without CSM ----Fail
boot in MBR (needed to reset bios as machine is a normally booting UEFI device started OK with Windows logo and then just went back to the boot screen again so ---FAIL

Tested on INTEL MBR only computer --BOOT OK

Tested on INTEL UEFI laptop (I5 processor) --Boot OK

The only way I could rescue the system was to run Clone DISK from another HDD I had spare via Linux live distro and DD command..

BTW on a 1803 version of Windows with very old version of Macrium - created recovery media and it seemed to work.

Have no probs with booting Linux live distros from external USB so it's not a broken computer.

Ist time ever been "let down" by Macrium --I always seem to have problem on an AMD computer --my next one won't be AMD whatever the price differential. !!!

    Macrium version --- V7.2.4971

    Windows release 1909 18363.959 W10 pro X64

Was trying to restore even the same release Windows image as a test -- sorry Macrium --Broken.

I NEED to have a reliable "Bare metal restore" --- DD from a live Linux distro worked for cloning the Disk from that extra HDD I had - Macrium itself failed on restore image.

No way again will I ever buy an AMD machine if I need to run Windows !!!

    Cheers

I have no problems on my 3 AMD systems. All have AMD A-10 CPU.

    Macrium version --- V7.2.4971

    Windows release 1909 18363.959 W10 pro X64

I use Windows 10 1903 RE and it works fine.

I've been running windows on AMD machines practically since 386 and Windows 3 very successfully with occasional detour to Cyrix and Intel Pentium 200 Pro. Always got best value for my money. There were no problems that can be attributed to AMD platform except for unfortunate choice of one MB with Nvidia chipset. That was as close to a disaster you can get, there was huge problem with drivers on XP and Windows NT.

    New Macrium Reflect Updates [2]-mr.png

My Windows 10 Partition is the last one on the Drive and I access an image using the Windows 10 menu -Macrium Reflect. I get a black screen. So I was thinking maybe it is looking at the wrong Partition??

You have set up boot menu to use WinRE by the sound of it.

You can still set it up using the older WinPE 10 method. This is independent of the WinRE partition and still works. It is one of the advance setting

@jimbo - this may fix your issue as well.

I tried that, got the same result. Thanks.

I did try that again and got the same results, after I boot it loads the line across the screen like it is going to find the image, then the boot screen re appears with spinning dots then the black screen. I set it back to RE and will just create a Ticket with Macrium Support. If they can't fix it, I will try something else. Thanks for your help!

    Worked !!!

    Thanks

BTW I think also older computers have problem with NTFS when creating boot media --I've found ensure FAT32 and don;t have partition >8GB on USB device for the media creation -- then it's fine again.
