    Best Backup for NAS drives?

    Hi,

Would anyone recommend a good Cloud Backup for my NAS drives, Synology DS218J NAS 16TB and WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra NAS 8TB both on RAID1 (HOME) setups but am looking for a online backup incase off theft or any other problems?

I'm using about 2-4TB at the moment.

    Thanks

The guys at BackBlaze really know what they're doing. Check out their offerings at The Best Unlimited Online Backup and Cloud Storage Services.

I have a Synology device for about 2 years and have been using Macrium Reflect to backup several different systems. Macrium recovery boot system, which is built by their software, works with my Synology NAS, to recover in any sort of emergency. Take a look at it.

Oh also, the use of RAID implementation on any NAS System, since they are all hardware based, has no effect on backup or recovery of your data. I do have another backup device which has RAID1 implemented and attached to my router via USB connection, and Macrium has had no issues backing up or recovering data from this device also.

+1, Ed, could you give a brief idea of how backblaze has worked for you?

@RolandJS: I've worked with the folks at BackBlaze through the Spiceworks/SpiceWorld connection (I've been attending for 6 years now, and speaking at the conference in 2018 and 2019). They run huge data centers and are perhaps best known for their quarterly hard drive failure rate reports (according to their April, 2019 report they operate 1,913 boot drives and 104,325 data drives). They offer a cloud-based backup service that is as cheap as or cheaper than anything else I could find that I use to back up my primary PC and certain key digital holdings and documents.
