Builtin option to create a system image with windows 10

Yes, that's the command line to go straight to 'Create a sytem image'. You can create a shortcut for this and add it to your Start menu (and I have).



But you'd better take a backup of the sdclt.exe and the sdclt.exe.mui that it requires in order to run (that's in a language-specific sub-folder of System32, mine is en-gb). Create a folder and language sub-folder somewhere else and copy them there (you can run them from there too).

You see Microsoft's System Image Backup has been a deprecated feature for more than two years. What does deprecated mean? It means the feature is no longer being developed and may be removed in future versions of Windows.

Take Microsoft's advice and use something else. I do (Macrium).

PS: just to show how much effort MS put into supporting it, for it's entire supported life system imaging was broken in the 32-bit version of 1803, never to be fixed.

it can be recovered using system restore by going to settings update and security then recovery

I ran into that problem and deleted the greyed out restore points in device manager you may have to select view show hidden devices on the device manager menu window first.
