Whats the recommended size for Restore Points for an Win10 system partition when I want to store e.g. 8 restore points?
Where can I defined where (in which partition) these restore points should be stored? Or are they always on the same partition as the original?
Are old Win7 Restore Point tools work on Win10 too (=is the restore Point interface API the same)?

Each restore point can be around 600 MB, but can vary.
Restore points (if available) are fine for a quick undo, but are not always reliable.
I would recommend to also keep updated system images for something reliable. A free program like Macrium Reflect is a good option.

Windows 7 restore points will not work on Windows 10.
- How could they? They are just sets of pointers & change indicators [to various OS components & settings].
- Windows has always deleted restore points that it regards as no longer relevant so it would delete your Windows 7 restore points anyway.
You are better off making system images on an external drive.
- You can decide when an old image is no longer relevant. You can decide if an old Windows 7 image is worth hanging on to. You can decide to make a new system image whenever you want to [I make a new one before any Cumulative update]
- I use Acronis TI but many people in this forum recommend Macrium reflect [free] - you will even find tutorials about it such as the one linked to by Brink above.

W7 restore points can't be applied to W10, but this question is of academic interest only as you won't have any, even if you have just upgraded to W10 from W7. The upgrade would have deleted all inapplicable restore points. In fact, upgrading from one version of W10 to the next (eg, from 1809 > 1903) will delete any restore points made by the older version of W10.
But you asked about 'tools', which ones were you thinking of? In general, restore point functions haven't changed much from W7 thru W8 to W10.
I usually give about 5% of my total disk space (a 1tb ssd) to system restore points, and I usually have maybe 15 to 20 srp that maybe go back 5 days. But then I have my system setup to do a srp at every logon thru scheduled tasks. I also keep a shortcut on the desktop if I want to make one on the fly.
