Backup not reflecting changes in folders

I have transferred a large number of files between different folders (from DropBox to OneDrive). I have then backed up my whole computer to an external harddrive. But when I check the backup it does not register the change to file locations. Dropbox folder is still full of files that are now in fact in OneDrive.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

As I understand it the OneDrive and DropBox folders on your computer do not contain any files, they contain just links to files on the OneDrive and DropBox servers, so backing up your computer does not backup your files, it backs up the links. I don't use OneDrive now, but when i did I often noticed it might take the OneDrive desktop app a minute or two to correctly reflect the latest file changes.

I found this article helpful -

Thanks very much. I didn't realise that about OneDrive. It helps tomake sense of what has been happening. I never noticed the same thing happening with DropBox though.

    Thanks again.
