Recover files from system restore from non bootable Windows

For using System Restore Explorer on an already crashed system drive, there is another 'version' which has been developed by Darren Rose ( see his comments dated March 23, 2016 at 20:44 and May 1, 2016 at 10:58 on nicbedbord's page -already linked above ). Darren Rose's "Shadow Copy Explorer" is located here:

Boot any Linux Live distro from a USB stick -- check that package ntfs-3g is installed which it is these days invariablly automatically installed and then simply use the file manager to copy files from source to target disks -- the Linux file managers all have a very similar interface to Windows explorer and the OS can read / write any file system.
You don't need to be a Linux Guru to use one of these --if you use something like Linux Mint live distro the interface is similar enough to windows for the job of copying files etc.

sorry, why should I boot Linux? I have access to the drive and to the files. I have already the folder I just need to VIEW, EXTRACT the data.

I only suggested that as the Windows solutions so far doesn't appear to be working

Nothing wrong in using all tools in an armoury to fix things. !!!

Restore points are used to recover the operating system at a prior time and not for personal file access.
If you find that you can use it in that fashion, please create a tutorial.

There are methods to recover files as per post #3.

I recovered the deleted system volume information already using R-studio. Inside this folder should be file history with user data, thats what I need to recover

Jimbo Thank you for trying to help. I don't need to recover the operating system, I don't need to boot linux since I already did copy the folder to another drive. Just need to extract the data from it

What makes you think the SVI contains what you want? Everything I have read suggests it won't.

I'm asking if someone know how to extract data from system volume information folder that is on different location. You are asking me "What makes you think the SVI contains what you want?". It doesn't really have anything to do with my question, Maybe yes maybe no, but that's not what I asked. I didn't ask if it contain the files. Obviously we both don't know what's in it.

OK, but you are going to a lot of trouble trying to find out how to do something, that, even if you manage, I suspect won't work. I can't help you do it, but can perhaps help you avoid fruitless effort. I don't 'know' what's in it, but I have a good idea what is not.
