unable to roll over to a larger HD

I have an HP Win 10 Computer & i want to roll the HD over to a Larger HD.
I want to also reformat the larger HD but there is no icon showing on my Computer
for this Drive. Tried another Comp & it does not show up either. I rolled this Machine a few years back with Acronis
and has been working fine since so what am I doing wrong? TIA

By "roll the HD over to a Larger HD" you mean to clone the current HD to another HD, isn't it?

A HDD or SSD disk to show on Explorer it must be initialized and the partitions formatted.
To initialize and format use disk manger (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc). There you should see the disk, initialize, format and assign a letter to it.

But to clone a disk (source) to another (target) most programs require the target disk to be RAW (as it is now).
Use Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free . Select Home (you may leave the email request blank) download and install.

Megahertz, Thank you for your reply. Here is what i have:
    Under computer management

    1. [C]

    2.Disc O ), partition 3

    3. System reserved

    Now the only one
that will let me format is #3. It does
see the new drive though. THank you.
Does this make sense to you?

Windows will not let you format any system, protected and active partitions because it would kill windows dead.
Just what are you trying to do ? If it's to use new drive for Windows system keeping all with it, you can just clone drive to new one or make a full disk backup and restore to new drive. Many ways to do that but I would suggest Macrium reflect free.
Can you show a picture of your Disk Management any clarify your intentions ? "Roll over" may mean something in car crash but not in "computerese" language

    Yes.
1 Please post a screenshot of that Computer management window so the correct instructions can be given [I think I know what the situation is but it is important to be careful].
2 Make sure you drag the column dividers about in the top bit so all the text can be seen. If necessary, you can make it two screenshots - one of the top & one of the bottom, the graphical part, by using Snipping Tool [C:\Windows\System32\SnippingTool.exe] or equivalent.

The response to these screenshots will probably be "start by right-clicking the graphical entry for that new HDD and Initialising it" but, as I say, I want to be careful.

Denis, I did not see your post before i started. I just finished cloning the C drive using Macrium however I now have a new F drive which is also identical to the C drive. How is this possible? my 2nd drive WD500GB is nowhere to be found. HELP

When you clone a drive, the drive you cloned from is not erased and when you boot from newly cloned drive the other one gets new letter.

I guess that the C:\ drive is now shown as 500GB as a result of the cloning operation. So that F:\ drive is going to be your old OS disk. If not then post back.

Personally, I think you should physically remove the old one then reboot to make sure everything is acting as you want.

By the way, the cloning you did will have initialised the new disk as part of its procedure so there is nothing more to do in that regard.
    - After checking what the situation was, I would merely have suggested initialising it yourself then using create a system image from the original OS disk followed by restoring that new system image to the new disk.
    - Using a system image [create, restore] used to be a bit more reliable than cloning but there might be no dfference now for all I know & your cloning seems to have worked anyway.

I right click on F-then boot, shows a macrium folder which has drivers-
then Disk, ethernet,USB,wifi but no where to boot new drive. Disk folder is empty,
Both drives are still identical, nothing shows in the way of a 500 HD. So how do I boot?

"Both drives are still identical" - Please post a screenshot of Disk management - adjust the column headers of the top section so everything can be seen.
    - The cloning operation will have made the new HDD look the same size as the one from which it was cloned.
    - I am expecting the Disk management screenshot to confirm this.
    - So you will probably merely have to right-click on it in Disk management then select Extend volume to be able to see its full 500GB.

"I right click on F-then boot, shows a macrium folder which has drivers- then Disk, ethernet,USB,wifi but no where to boot new drive. Disk folder is empty" - If you mean that these are the folders in your F drive then I'd guess that the F drive is a Macrium Reflect booting USB. Post a screenshot of this lot for somebody who uses Macrium to identify for you [I don't use it so I can't].
