That puppy is hard to get rid of. Deleting it fails because it comes back with "Open in another application." Take Ownership seems to go on forever trying to get control of things in the BaseImages directory, but can't because they are all write protected. Changing permissions fails with "The permissions on BaseImages are incorrectly ordered...."

So it looks like MS really doesn't want that stuff to go away. I reckon the only way to get it gone is to use Safe Mode or something like that. I might try that sometime but my boot drive has lots of free space so I'm not too motivated to take it out.

If you're really confident about what you want to delete, boot your PC from a live boot disk and then there are no permission issues.

Didn't you read my post? That is a tested and safe way to delete it. You must also delete the registry items I listed in that post.

Whatever you do, do NOT try to delete it within normal windows, my first attempt ended in disaster....

To unmount, right-click on the mounted drive in 'This PC'....

When I mount an image, I do not have the option to unmount it in the File Explorer, I have to launch Macrium and detach the drive from within Macrium.
