Selecting a Device when using Macrium Reflect to Create Rescue Media

I am attempting to back up my recently purchased Dell i3690, (which uses win365) using Macrium Reflect.
I’m a total novice, and wish I could find a Macrium for dummies document. Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect
is an excellent choice, but Macrium has made changes and Part 2 Create Rescue Media is no longer included in in the freeby version.

Is there a link available where Part 2 data is available?

If not, I started Macrium Reflect, clicked on Other tasks>Windows Rescue Builder. The first choice is to select a device. Choices are Removable Flash Drive, CD/DVD Burner, and ISO File. The Flash drive choice is only available if a flash drive is connected. The Flash drive choice sounds the easiest, but I wonder it only can be used if I have an earlier version of win10 where I can press F12 at startup and use the Boot Device Menu to select a USB device at startup. Otherwise, I'll select iso file.

The one-time boot device choice menu that is found by pressing F12 at power up (on most PCs, some may use another key) is NOT part of Windows, it is part of the BIOS. As such, it is available regardless of what OS is installed (or even if there is none).

If fast startup is turned on in Windows 10 the BIOS options to press F2 to enter BIOS or F12 to get the boot menu may be skipped. In that case you need to do a cold start. Either turn off fast startup, or use Restart rather than Shut down from the Start menu power button.

As for which Macrium boot device to choose, the usb flash drive is the most versatile as it can be used even if the hard drive has been corrupted beyond the ability to boot.

Choices are Removable Flash Drive, CD/DVD Burner, and ISO File.

You should also see another choice at the top of the list, to add Macrium to the Windows boot menu. This is useful if the hard drive is still capable of booting. You may need to scroll up to find it, the Select Device window only has space to show three of the available options.

Thanks for the link, but I wonder how current the document is? Much work is required to keep a document of this size up to date.

I have two Dell win10 computers. I can boot from a flash drive with the older one, but not from the computer running 365. I don't seem to need win10PE with the first, at least there are no problems making backups using earlier editions of Macrum, plus EraseUs, and Terabyte Image for Linux.

Maybe it is a non-issue, but want to be sure.

What exactly is Win365?

I really meant Office 365, not windows 365.

I also tried F12 (which Dell uses) to get into the Boot menu, and was successful. A local tech said it was not possible.

As I said earlier, some PCs will skip the part of the Bios boot sequence where you can press the F2/F12 keys, but only if you are performing a 'warm' start. i.e. starting up a system where Win10 is set to use Fast Startup and was last turned off from 'Shut down' on the Start menu. In that case to be able to use the function keys, use Restart which will always perform a full start up from 'cold'.
