Attempt to create a system image fails

In the Macrium tutorial, Kari shows you how to add Macrium Rescue to the Windows boot menu. With an ordinary system image, would there not be something equivalent to that on the boot menu? It's probably a dumb question, but in all the years of working on PC's (and creating system images religiously) I've never had a crash that required me to actually USE a system image.

Failure to boot can be due to:
malware
ransomware
corruption of the boot sector
corruption of the operating system
corruption of the registry
problems related to windows updates and upgrades
etc.

We see these problems frequently in Ten Forums.

One of the methods that had worked to repair problems related to the registry has had a bug for several windows builds.

So having a backup image can be invaluable.

I installed Macrium Reflect. I have a backup running now. There were some small differences from the tutorial, but nothing major. For example, I did not see the option to add Macrium Rescue to the Windows boot menu.

Run Macrium. You'll find it in 'Other Tasks > Create Rescue Media...'.

+1 for Macrium Reflect, -100 for Acronis. Can't comment on the rest since I haven't used them

So am I. Click on 'Other Tasks > Create Rescue Media...' to open the Rescue Media Builder.





Select 'Windows Boot Menu' in 'Select device', make sure 'Add boot menu...' is selected in 'Boot menu options' at the bottom, then click the Build button.

There's a scroll bar on the right of your 'Select Device'. If you scroll up you should find Windows Boot Menu at the top.

And if you have any more VSS problems, Reflect has a built-in repair tool.
