    System restore fail error 0x800700b7


    Hello I need help with my windows 10 PC.
    Every try to restore my computer returns the same error :
    System restore fail error 0x800700b7-capture.png
    I don't know where it does come from ...
    I ran dism check scan & restore + sfc /verifonly & scannow nothing to report for every commands.
    I did a reinstall with windows media creation tool with the keep my softwares and personnal folder options but the problem remains.
    I don't know if its linked but ..
    I have a low space ssd (120GO) so I wanted to change the default installation folder (C:\program files\ & C:\Program Files (x86)) by my normal harddisk which is 1 TO (D:\Program Files & D:\Program Files (x86)).
    I did this some weeks ago : How to Change the Install Location for Windows 10 Apps
    It was a bad idea because it doesnt work when I install something it still ask to be installed on the C: drive and I have a 0k protected folder called windowsapp.
    I don't want to reinstall my computer cause its a pain ...
    I don't need to restore my computer but it can save hours and it doesnt work so if something happens I am screwed.

    Hi EniD

    I don't have an answer to your immediate question. Hopefully another member will.

    I will suggest an alternative, Macrium Reflect, to take System Images. Free, reliable and used by members. You could look at keeping a single Image on your 1TB drive for quick restores and add Macrium to your boot menu to invoke the restore.

    Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

    I also keep a copy off machine and I created and tested boot media.

    Try system restore within safe mode.
    And a +1 on using Macrium Reflect.

    Hello guys I would its seems better than acronis and free so why I shouldn't give a try but my system has a problem so it must be repaired before backup no ?
    Its maybe not the only one problem ..

    I wouldn't spend a lot of time trying to fix restore. You need a tool you can rely on, one that survives feature updates, disk crashes and restores everything.
