    It creates vhdx files. That is a format that other applications can deal with. If necessary you could use something else to restore the latest system image.

    Drive snapshot is an endearing little thing. Just chuck it in winpe - it is tiny single executable and you don't need to muck around installing drivers. Many enthusiasts have been using it for years.

    Easeus do a program for that. I used it successfully to transfer installed programs.

    The free version only lets you transfer a couple of programs.

    A) Macrium Reflect. You will not regret it.

    B) To solve the task of making a "painful list", as you put it, and rightly so, there is no better total system snapshot of installed apps, keys, updates, etc. than Belarc Advisor. It's a must-have to run before any re-install. Free. https://www.belarc.com/products_belarc_advisor

    Which other applications?

    Some could cope with the vhd format [such as TI] but I haven't noticed any that could cope with vhdx.

    Go to [Start, Windows system,] Control panel, Programs & features then take screenshots of the list. I do this twice - once in date order and once in name order.

    Suggest you take a look at Easeus PC trans . It worked successfully for me a little while back.
