Best USB drive for weekly backups?

I've been browsing around for USB sticks to backup important files to, and am completely lost in the entire market. I am looking for 256-512gb capacity, here are a couple i found. I have no idea what i should be looking for in USB sticks. Does anyone have experience and could lend me a hand?

I use Samsung "bar" USB drives for backups.

I keep the backups in encrypted VHDX files.

I agree that a traditional USB flash drive is not at all ideal for a system backup. Personally, I would look at a USB 3 SSD:

It's great that you want to back up your important files.
At the same time consider creating system image backups also.

If you insist on a traditional USB "thumb drive", I'd try to avoid those with moving parts---typically a sliding mechanism that exposes the connector. That's just another point of failure on an already cheap and shaky contraption. Don't expect any of them to take much abuse---the casing can come apart in your hand.

And you have to decide on whether or not speed is a concern. There is a lot of variation among the candidates. If you are using this thing weekly, I'd guess that speed might be a concern.

At 256 gb and above, I'd probably lean toward an SSD of some type---possibly a traditional 2.5 inch standard SSD that might sell for as little as $30 or $40 and then buy a cable (for maybe $10) to connect it to a USB port.

SSD prices are dropping quickly as the price of DRAM continues to fall farther into the toilet.

Prices probably higher in the Frozen North.
