Creating Windows 10 USB Recovery Drive slow

Why is creating a Windows 10 USB Recovery Drive slow during the copy system stage? It takes over 40 minutes to finish just for one USB 3.0 flash drive. I have my latest system specs listed in my profile.

When you create a Recovery Drive windows is not just copying files. It's actually constructing a pair of Windows Image files (Reconstruct.WIM and Reconstruct.WIM2) from your system files. These are similar in content to the Install.wim (of install.esd) found in the Sources folder of a standard install usb.

The process of building the .wim is what takes all that time.
