Isn't it funny so many people are having the same problem with an app that normally works perfectly? I don't see how the problem can be hardware related unless everyones is the same and they're not. It would seem that it has to be software based. Either a glitch in the latest version of MR or another update or add-on that it doesn't like. Just my thought. Mine is finally working and i have run about 10 backup and verifications now with no problems.

It sure can be hardware related, it could be anything ..All the errors I get when it fails are geared towards a disk sector. The new Chrome Based EDGE , may be a problem but I doubt it would be with MR.

anyone suggest some alternatives? Im now completely bent and over it. Ive burned a dozen terabytes of writes on backups testing different scenarios. Just spent 3 entire full nights in a row running memtest pro up to 900% with 0 issue. First full backup again, verification fail.

done. I need an alternative that is functionally the same. If I had to guess, it wont fail verification >.< Acronis last i tried (some years back) was bloated to death with stuff. I know of no others, went with macrium due to how prominent it was/is.

On my backup pc it runs without issue, but it doesnt care for something on my main pc, im just beyond being able to figure out what.

ironically enough, never had an issue restoring either - but the error doesnt sit well for obvious reasons.

some more reading and digging through obscure forums, and someone mentioned it works for him without error'ing out on verification only if he disables "realtime shield in WRSA"... now i have no idea what that is, but sounds like some type of virus program (of which i run none).

is it feasable to think this is wholly software related and due to something running on my pc? (even though I SWEAR i tested that out already, these backups take 2 freaking hours a pop so ill go again if need be ><)

So i found this on another forum. Perhaps someone here smarter than I regarding these matters - has something to suggest considering the following? I cant find rhyme or reason as to why this is happening on my end. Not much of a pattern outside of failures predominantly on internal disks. Memory has been tested rock solid beyond reproach. Disks have all been chkdsk'd (even though irrelevant cause it fails on them all lol). It has to be something running, or something like the user below suggests?

"Thanks Clint. After verifying OK once (several images), now all images fail verification on any and all machines I connect the USB HDD to (the drive containing the images). Under W7 or PE. The drive itself works fine and passes chkdsk and any other tools I throw at it.

    BUT

I took your hint and ran exactfile. If I copy the image to an internal drive I get different MD5 checksums. Also, if I run exactfile multiple times on the original image I get different checksums. The number of bytes reported stays the same.

This would suggest that there is something goofy with the external HDD or controller, but the image itself is not corrupt. Any hints for troubleshooting and/or salvaging the images before I reformat the drive?"

    It's WebRoot Secure Anywhere.

I'm using Macrium Recflect 7.1.3317 with WRSA and have been getting a "Backup aborted! - 'boot3-10-10.mrimg' Verification failed at <xx>% (Block <yyyyyy> hash value is incorrect)" error when verifying the backup.

yep, i came across that thread as well :)

Seems like a darned obscure issue but i think hardware is barking up the wrong tree its beginning to look like. I just know im becoming sickened with how much time i spend on this.

Beginning to consider simply testing an image by restoring it and see if it restores properly (keeping one that did pass verify on the side ofc). Starting to think theyre not corrupt at all. That still doesnt resolve the issue, and still wont sit well with me. But i dont know what else to check at this point. Its insanity.

someone onthe macrium forums, in regard to someone with a similar issue.

"Something is wrong with either that USB port or an internal DATA path in that machine I believe... "

Obviously the USB portion is irrelevant, but "internal DATA path" is what piqued my interest. Even though again, it does nothing for me as far as moving forward. Wonder if its some kinda disk numbering, naming issue considering ive upgraded harddrives over the years, and given the new/larger drives the same letter/name as the ones they replaced etc. Just dont know how or what to test next. Exhausting.

Your specs say you have Pro so have Hyper-V available. Another good test is to boot the macrium image as a Virtual Machine using Macrium viBoot.

yes, im heading in that direction and will report back with the result when/should it come to that. I'll probably just do a standard restore though, considering viboot requires hyperv and i have hyperv disabled as it requires credential/application guard which completely breaks vmware which is my virtualization platform of choice.

figuring this out will be my lifes work.
