Back Up Folders/Files from Laptop to PC and Google Drive

Hi. I have a lot of photos on my laptop and use Google Drive to back them up, but this means they are saved twice on the laptop - in the original folder and the Google Drive folder using up a lot of space.

I'd like to back them up to my PC. How is it best to do this? Can I do it over the router network? Using a USB or ethernet cable?

Am I using Google Drive right? Any other ideas?

    Many thanks!

    Hi jonnets

Google has a thing called Google Photo, is this what you mean by google drive? I ask because unless you pay for Google photos you will see they have been compressed. Some don't realize this so I thought I would mention.

The positive side of offsite backup is just that, it is offsite. Something happens in your house you have a version outside the house. I copy all my data once a month to a laptop HDD and store it in my safety deposit box offsite.

WD and Seagate both sell packaged drives in 1TB, 2TB, 3TB. I like a raw drives with an external enclosure. They now are selling external SSD's.

    As an example

By all means you can share information over your network in your house. This tutorial talks to set up.
