    Hello @jimbo45

    I have the "free" version downloaded from Macrium, which would seem to be the stand alone version according to their FAQs. I don't understand how to run it other than from within Windows What am I missing here? Thanks, George
    Hi there
    @George

    Start the Macrium program from within Windows and choose tools from the menuand from within that choose choose create recovery media -- this will create an iso which you can then use RUFUS to create a bootable USB or create a usb directly from the create recovery media.

    Now boot this iso and it will have the stand alone Macrium program on it. You can backup / restore etc like the standard version and also there's an option fix windows boot problems.

    Cheers

    @George doesn't even need Rufus to create a bootable usb from the iso. Just use Diskpart to clean the usb, create and format a Fat32 partition and mark it Active. Then mount the iso and copy all the files/folder to the usb. Or just create the usb directly, you'll only see this option in Macrium if you have the usb connected when you choose the 'create recovery media' tool.
