I wish to save my pictures

I have problems with my Dell which I believe can be solved only by wiping and re install. or so Dell tells me
Is there a way a stupid man can download his pics to a disc or whatever and reinstall later?
    I have pictures in
Pictures Fotoroom Downloads and Canon whatever.

and is there a way after I save them to ascertain they are actually there?

    Please clarify:

Are these pictures currently on the hard drive of your computer?

    Or somewhere else?

Or are you not sure where they are?

They are on my hard drive and also since some pics are on Canon and a place called Fotoroom which means I know where some are and others I am not sure.

I assume Fotoroom is a web site of some type?

    Web Hosting from HostPapa

That link doesn't look like it.

    What, exactly...................is Fotoroom?

How will you attempt to find those pictures that are in some unknown place?

You need to describe the location of all the pictures before you can move them somewhere else.

Those on your hard drive should not be a problem, but what about the others?

I assume "Canon" means your camera? Can you move those pictures to the hard drive?

Or is "Canon" another web site?

Have you ever used a USB flash drive or a "thumb drive"?

    Do you own one?

Do you have any idea of the total size of all of these pictures on your hard drive as measured in megabyte (MB) or gigabytes (GB)?

I suppose 200 pics at most and I dont own a flash drive but could buy one and plug it into a USB Port, I suppose thats the way to start. Shall I buy from Amazon a Flash ...what size is a good choice? Once plugged in then that's where I now am lost
I imagine this cant be too difficult, there must be a place that says Download or save??

You can buy one most anywhere--Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, maybe even Walgreens.

What size you need depends on the size in MB or GB of the pictures.

NOT the number of pictures. The size.

Go to whatever folder you think the pictures are in on your hard drive.

Right click that folder and read the size from the "properties" tab.

If it says 5 GB, buy an 8 GB USB drive.

If it says 333 MB, you could buy a very small USB drive--like 1 GB.

Shouldn't cost over 5 or 10 bucks at most.

You would do a "copy" or "move", not a download or save.
