Simple Macrium Reflect question - I think

I can't get logged onto the Macrium support forum so hopefully somebody here can help me with this annoying but trivial question.

I have created shortcuts for my various backup routines but when I click on one of these it does run but nothing appears on the desktop to indicate this. The only way I can see it doing something is to right click on the icon in the system try which then has options for Show/Hide. I'd like the default to be Show.

Not the end of the world but........

    Thanks

You won't, not unless you have the paid-for version of Macrium.

This behaviour seems to be by design, the backup is actually being run as a scheduled task and the icon in the system tray that lets you see it is from ReflectMonitor.exe.

A new lightweight process, 'ReflectMonitor.exe', runs in the background and is started at user login. This process monitors for running scheduled backups and creates a system tray icon in the notification area when a running scheduled backup is detected.
Task Scheduler 2.0 - KnowledgeBase v7.2 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase

While it doesn't seem possible to change the default behaviour, there is a quick and easy Hotkey to show the running backup: Ctrl+Alt+M

    Thanks for the reply.

I have the paid version but I doubt that makes any difference. I'll just have to live with it.

Would like to help you with your logon problem. You need to create a forum logon using the same email address that you used to purchase Macrium. Then you will receive a temporary password to logon to your to your new Macrium forum account.

Not knowing what your shortcuts look like, you can create a batch file executable(bat) that will open a command window (Same is true for Power shell), that will be displayed when you execute the batch file. You will see something as the following:

    "Validating XML

    XML File Name - c:\users\roger sr\documents\reflect\base1_backup.xml
    Please wait. Initializing partition information...

    Validation status - Ok

Macrium will list every step it executes. Here us an example of the above execution as it appears in a batch file.

    "C:\Program Files\Macrium\Reflect\Reflect.exe" -e -w -full "C:\Users\Roger Sr\Documents\Reflect\Base1_Backup.xml" -g

    if ERRORLEVEL 3 goto busy
    if ERRORLEVEL 2 goto validation_error
    if ERRORLEVEL 1 goto backup_error
    if ERRORLEVEL 0 goto ok

It also returns the above return codes, so you can take appropriate action based on the return code.

    Hope this helps.

Also note that to run batch executions, you need a paid lic version.

The problem with the Support Forum is that I need to register. When I select this option, the next window asks for my license key. When I enter this it just totally ignores it and displays the same request again. There is a message to the affect that there is some problem with this page and I should try and use a different username. Hard to do when you can't register in the first place.

I've created an account with Macrium so I will fill out a support query about the forum.

As for the orginal question - its not that big a deal but thanks for the suggestion. I'll just work around it the way I've been doing.

    Thanks again

Just a thought, is it asking for the user name you are registered with, in addition to the key? It's in Macrium, Under Help>About Macrium....

It doesn't even ask for a username - just goes straight for the license key question.

I just had a thought - maybe I'll try this on a different browser and with Adblock and Ghostery turned off.

Good to know. I also use Firefox, but I have found that there are times when it just doesn't do the same function like other browsers.

FWIW..... same here. FF is my main browser, love it for everyday. But...there a few rare times when some site just will not play right or cooperate using FF. I just copy the full address bar over to Chrome (or Opera) and away it goes. Beats me..........
