    Backup to external drive

People say to backup more so using Win10.
Read some say to use other than Windows backup.

If using such as Macrium Reflect.
Would I need to create an Image of the whole drive on my laptop with my files/photos and system etc.

So in the event of a failure/corruption etc, it would be just a case of a recovery from the external drive to reinstall back to normal on the current HDD or new replacement and ready to go. ?

Be aware that if you make an image on March 15 and restore it on April 15, that you would typically LOSE whatever files/photos were added to the drive between those 2 dates. Those cool pictures you took on March 23 and April 8 will be overwritten.

There are ways to avoid that, but if you keep your personal stuff on C, that is likely what would happen. The April 15 C partition would be replaced by the March 15 C partition.

There are two backups windows with an image and important docs, photos etc using onedrive or Google drive to back them up is the best option as it will backup instantley to the cloud so if you had a major disater and lost the pc and external drive imprtant things are safe

Reflect backs up partitions. You can create a separate partition for your data files which gives you more control whether you want to back up / image your system files and / or data files.
