At some time the BETA log collector will replace the DM log collector.
The BETA log collector will collect more useful files and folders for troubleshooting.
Once it is ran a more comprehensive analysis can be performed.

So far the logs displayed corruption of the drive file system.
The Master File Table is corrupt.

Some steps may have been performed.

For all steps please make sure that images are posted into the thread.
In case there is any problem posting images directly into the thread please use share links (one drive, drop box, or google drive)

    Perform the following steps:

    1) Backup all files to another drive or to the cloud
    2) Make a backup image using Macrium:
Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything

    3) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    4) sfc /scannow
    5) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    6) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    7) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    8) chkdsk /r /v

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /r /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y
    reboot

This may take many hours so plan to run overnight.

    9) Use the text and images in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer > copy and paste > notepad > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 | Tutorials

    10) Run HD Tune ( free version)
    https://www.hdtune.com/
Post images into the thread for the results on these tabs:
    a) Health (SMART)
    b) Benchmark
    c) Full error scan

    11) Run Sea Tools for Windows long generic scan:
    http://www.seagate.com/support/downl...ls-win-master/

    12) Turn off Windows fast startup:

    13) The BIOS: Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 2301, 1/6/2014
    Upgrade the BIOS: 2301 > 2501
    M5A99FX PRO R2.0 Driver & Tools | Motherboards | ASUS USA

    14) Run both the BETA and DM log collectors and post zips into this thread:
BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

    15) If there are problems running the BETA log collector then uninstall Bitdefender using the applicable uninstall tool:
    Uninstall Bitdefender

    16) Then reinstall Bitdefender:
    How to install Bitdefender 2019

    17) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings

    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery window into the thread

    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > on the performance options window > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory window into the thread

    18) If the computer has Ccleaner (do not install the software if it is not already installed) > click windows tab > scroll down to system and advanced > post an image into the thread

I have done sfc /scannow, and it found nothing wrong.
I have run multiple HDD health checks (HD Tune error scan, Crystal Disk Info, Hard Disk Sentinel (trial)). None found problems.

Given all the things you are telling me to do, it seems like it would be easier to just do a Windows in-place upgrade reinstall per @dalchina.

Would that fix this? If not, I also just bought an extra HDD, it might be easier to just install Windows fresh on there, and transfer backed up data (and reformat the original drive).

The major problem is the drive file system corruption.

This can cause failure to boot.
Sometimes chkdsk cannot fix a corrupted MFT.

It is best to make sure all important files are backed up.

An in place upgrade repair can fix a corrupted operating system.
It is unlikely to fix a corrupted drive file system or MFT.

The new HD will fix the problem.

When you install Windows make sure that there is only one drive available at the time of the Windows installation.
(disconnect the cable or have only one physical drive attached)

It is most unusual the failure to be able to run the BETA log collector.

    After you clean install Windows
    a) run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread
    b) install Bitdefender without activating the firewall > run the BETA log collector and post another zip into this thread
    c) turn on the Bitdefender firewall > run the BETA log collector and post another zip into this thread

What can actually fix the MFT? DISM?

Also, this system has a long history of OS upgrades, so I don't know where it could have occurred. When I built it in 2014, Win 8.1 was the latest operating system, but my university sold me a $15 Win8 disc. It installed Win 8, then 8.1 the next day, endured a couple years of 8.1 until 10 was one year old. Then I upgraded to 10 and it has endured countless iterations since.

At one point, the Default user folder had corrupted, so I couldn't create any new Windows users... (my academic buildings IT guy whom I was friends with, made a 10 Pro VM, so I could copy over an un-corrupted Default folder...)

Even though, I am going to upgrading to a new laptop soon (it easier to have one daily driver instead of two), I feel a clean install might just make the computer's remaining life easier. (But then again I would prefer to not have to reinstall everything)

(I will try steps 1, 3-8 later today and overnight)

When any file (operating system, registry, applications, etc.) is installed on the computer there is a structure for the file system:
    This is NTFS
    NTFS overview | Microsoft Docs
What Is the NTFS File System? (NTFS Definition)
Master File Table - Windows applications | Microsoft Docs

The sfc /scannow command is used to check and fix corruption of the windows operating system protected files.
It does not fix corruption of the drive file system.
    Registry corruption can remain unfixed.

Run SFC Command in Windows 10 | Tutorials

The dism restorehealth command is used to check and fix the component store.
It does not fix corruption of the drive file system.
    Registry corruption can remain unfixed.

How to use DISM command-line utility to repair a Windows 10 image | Windows Central
Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image | Tutorials

To fix the drive file system the chkdsk commands and switches are used.
The most commonly used switches are f and r
    The f switch fixes errors
The r switch performs the same as the f switch but in addition recovers files
The v switch provides the most detailed information that is performed when running chkdsk
    chkdsk | Microsoft Docs

Corruption of files happens and these commands can be run frequently as preventative maintenance:
    sfc /scannow
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    chkdsk /scan

For a very long story pertaining to OCD, I was re-running BitDefender. Sometime after the scan finished I plugged in my external for back, the computer froze (after I opened C:, but before I plugged it in? not sure). The mouse would not move, the keyboard would not responded.

Forcibly restarted, and backing up. In a couple hours following backup, I will start with step 3.

In the logs some other problems were seen.
More information may be available with the BETA log collector.
When the new operating system is installed it will require the installation of new drivers.
Once the new drive, operating system, and drivers are in use allow several days to generate logs files.

I thought it over and I won't have time to a do a full re-install until Saturday. I backed up everything I could think to back-up (this hdd is going anywhere, so I will keep it around in an external case before turning it into a second drive)

In step 9, "Use the text and images in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer" the link is missing.
Step 8 is about to run

The chkdsk /r /v command can be run overnight.

That was my plan, but it decided to finish earlier than expected.

I will do the rest tomorrow night.
