From the posts it appears that you are able to boot windows and run various tests and scans.

How often are you having black screens and crashes?

Did the frequency of the black screens or crashes change after replacing the CMOS battery?

Are you able to boot into safe mode?

No more black screens or crashes post CMOS battery change. No time changes either. I left it on all night Thursday night/Friday morning - no crash.

I probably can boot to safe mode, but I haven't had to try. The crashes stopped. The closest thing was when I was running Microsoft Safety Scanner. The screen had gone to sleep as it was supposed to. When I moved the mouse to re-awake the screen, it took a couple seconds for the desktop icons to load, but then again the CPU power was all focused on the system scan.

Currently, the computer is running an extra BitDefender system scan. I did one yesterday too nothing found.

What had happened before the need to system restore?
Was the drive dropped? Was there suspected malware? Something else?

There is a log collector used in another forum.
Please run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread:

First I had the flash drive issue mentioned in the original post, then I had a couple times where I got stuck on a black screen before the login screen.

I figured something had gotten corrupted, so I thought to try a system restore. When the system restore didn't work, I got even more worried and posted here.

(my antivirus blocked the beta scan hence no logs)

Many times when there are computer problems there are reports or clues in the logs.
The computer can be tuned up by troubleshooting the computer logs.
For example (similar to what you were doing in this thread): What do these msert.log errors mean - Windows 10 Forums

The BETA log collector will automatically collect the logs for troubleshooting.

System restore when it works it useful.
More often it the tool fails.
It's best to make a backup image.
There are free and pay versions.
    These are some:
Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.
Macrium is widely used in Ten Forums.

If the computer has problems with:

    ransomware
    malware
    corruption of the operating system
    corruption of the component store
    corruption of the registry
corruption of the drive file system
    failure to boot
    etc.

many of the above can often be fixed by restoring a backup image.
Typically this takes < 1 hour.

Which antivirus software are you using?
Run both the BETA and DM log collectors.
BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums
Please turn off or uninstall the antivirus software to run the BETA log collector.

Assuming you can resolve the problem with the time being wrong (as above), I would suggest

Check your disk using Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) (this gives the best report I've seen). (Yes, noted you used Crystal Diskinfo).
Do a surface scan with HD Tune (error scan tab). (Neither of the two above offer this).
(This checks parts of the disk chkdsk won't access of course).

    Post the result.

If all is then ok, and other hardware problems aside, try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs, data and most settings.

You need an iso of the same build and base language as your current OS.

Please list all of the non-Microsoft antivirus and firewall software on the computer.
The run both the DM and BETA log collectors.
Please post images if there are any problems running them.

If there is an antivirus block please post an image.

Then uninstall any third party antivirus software and make sure only Windows defender is on.
Then run both the BETA and DM log collectors to post zips into the thread.

I'll (re)try those logs once the HDTune error scan is done. I am running BitDefender antivirus and firewall. I have no intention of uninstalling them. Windows Defender is crap. I'll try turning it off for five minutes though.

I disable BitDefender, but it still did not let Beta run. I have, however, attached the DM log. As my surname is in my computer name, I did a find-and-replace-all with it and SURNAME for privacy.

For some reason, after I re-enabled BitDefender I was having issues getting it to upload. I suspect it was that the file name was too long, but I restarted anyways. I renamed it, and it uploaded.

    (original file name was DSURNAME_DESKTOP-Sun_02_10_2019_142521_22.zip)

(UPDATE FROM LAPTOP: apparently my laptop didn't have an issue uploading it with the full filename - don't know why my desktop couldn't...)
