That error usually occurs when Reflect can't find or connect to the backup device, looking at your first picture under 'validating location' it's saying the device is not ready! Is your backup device powered on or if connected by a USB cable is the cable ok? I would try a different cable if you have one.

That, I believe, is the most likely reason.

Ron, did you have your WD external plugged into the USB slot before you started Macrium? Or did you plug it in after it got going? If MR does not see it right up front when it starts the definition validation, it will error. Make sure it's plugged in good and tight, look for some blinking, restart the MR like you always have in the past, and see what you get.

The problem appears to be with your WD Elements drive. Your Macrium reported that the 'device is not ready'.

Does the 'Macrium Backups' folder exist?

Has the drive letter changed from D: to something else since you last had the usb drive plugged in?
(this would be the most likely reason in my opinion)

Can you copy or save to the WD Elements with anything else, like saving a text file from Notepad? What do you see in File Explorer or Disk Management?

Ron, I just noticed something. The definition file that is highlighted (light grey, red arrow pointing) is not the one you usually run, unless you have changed. I remember well setting up that 5PM definition and you running it manually with the right-click options. Is it possible you just chose the wrong definition? Just looks odd to me, and kinda hard to see. But, does look like that My Backup (2) is the one you ran.

Please open File Explorer while the WD Elements is connected and confirm that it appears as the D: drive.

Macrium is saying the device is not ready. This will happen if the WD Elements is using a different drive letter from the D: that is specified in the backup definition that you ran.

    Has the drive letter changed?
Have you tried safely removing the drive & then reconnecting it? I have this on occasion & it just requires this fix.
